  CHAPTER ONE

Loud music. Anna Morison couldn’t even follow the thread of her own thoughts.

Thick smoke. She hoped she could get her hair to smell decently by tomorrow.

“When your legs don’t work like they used to before….” Wow. She couldn’t believe her luck. Ecstasy was a better word for the feeling that got into her. It was the song that kept her staring mesmerized at her computer screen for almost five minutes while it played on YouTube.

Breathless even. Every time. She absolutely adored the video. She could only wish she knew those dance moves. Or that she had a partner like that. Or an asymmetrical floaty-silk-spaghetti-straps-type-of-dress. That would be a good investment for her hourglass figure. Where would she wear that? Oh, well… at least she had something that made her feel part of the video. Her hair. Dark-chocolate brown, wavy most of the time and curly when it rained. Now it was longer than her usual hairstyle-shoulder length- but she felt she needed a change, and the way her hair felt when it almost touched her waist when she was naked felt like a good idea. It made her look more mature as well. More professional too. Great.

“Stop thinking about work!” she scolded herself.

The video played in her head as she tried to remember some of the moves. She couldn’t. Too complex for a person who only danced a few times a year. It wouldn’t hurt anyone if she pretended to dance. She bent her knees slightly, rocking her hips from left to right and right to left. Swaying her hips and her arms above her head at the same time, she started synching with the beat. She could do this. She’d been doing variations of these moves all night long, a bit shy in the beginning, but then bolder. Now adrenaline was pumping in her veins from the previous jumpy tune, and it took her a little to get into the more melodic one playing now. Many couples slow-danced close to her and some of them actually bumped into her, moving in their own little bubble of a world. As they faced each other, their heads rested on their partners’ shoulder. The fingers of their right hands intertwined as if having a deep conversation. Swaying to the rhythm of the song, the men’s left arms clutched their partners’ waists, some bolder ones moving lower to grab something more interesting to rest their hands on.

Anna used her arms to swipe the sweat glistening on her temples and forehead. It felt like a sauna, but the breeze the air-conditioning gave off managed to steal a smile from her. Her muscles had been pushed to their limits tonight. They appreciated the DJ’s choice, getting a chance to rest after bouncing up and down all night to all kinds of jumpy music. Someone bumped into her. Her feet skipped a beat. She couldn’t fall and make a fool of herself even if she tried. The place was packed. It was a Friday night. The room was filled with people in the mood to go wild on the dance floor. This place was the first that came to mind every time she decided to go dancing. Which wasn’t that often, but it was better than never going out. There were other places she’d tried, but this one was the best as it had several rooms and the biggest one was a dance floor. Most of the time, it was like an animal’s den with only a few red, green, yellow or blue beams of light dancing around in an attempt to help you to at least see your partner’s face. And the speakers. Oh my God! She once got a decent orgasm just from sitting on one of those enormous things.

As she was remembering the night of the unexpected orgasm, she felt someone moving against her back. She ignored the person. Maybe one of the couples was just moving around. She felt the soft cotton of her summer dress rub against her sweaty back and she was grateful she’d chosen that lemon yellow halter top garment. It was one of the few occasions she could wear it, and the inner knowledge that her body was more than pleasant to the eye in it – unlike her personality - pushed her out of her den. She felt sexy even though her generous cleavage wasn’t on show, hidden under the fully-covered upper part of the dress. What she liked most about it was the way it respectfully supported her female parts, keeping her beautifully-formed breasts in place, falling on her hips in just the right way to make them look appetizing. Her tanned knees looked so well-defined in contrast with the bright color of the dress that ended a palm above them.

Startled by the two hands that enveloped the part between her stomach and her breasts, Anna awoke from her reverie and her thoughts darted back to the club. What an innocent move, but so erotic. She wasn’t interested, and the man who was groping her would figure that out very soon when she planned on elbowing him in order to get away from his caging, massive, yet smooth arms. His hands reached their destination and his palms rested on her dress right under her breasts, one on top of the other, without moving.

He was hugging her. What a fool. She didn’t want to look at him, determined to get away from him before he tempted her in any way. Now her arms felt awkward as they froze in the air. She let them fall, careful not to touch his arms and, at the same time as her decision, in that split second, she realized why he chose this position. He was taller than her, taller than the men she usually liked. She could tell that from the way he leaned forward to hug her. Taken by surprise by the arousal suddenly washing over her, her pussy
tingled and her nipples hardened into beads. Warmth enveloped her, not the type she’d felt before, all sweaty and suffocating, but it felt like it was patching every scar her past had left on her soul.

And then something ground-shattering happened. Her hair electrified, reacting to his attraction, and it made the skin it was attached to tingle. Her world stopped. What was he doing? What was he thinking? What was she doing?

Move. Do something. Get me out of here, she instructed her legs, but they didn’t budge.

When she thought she couldn’t be amazed by anything anymore since she was this stranger’s captive and her own body worked against her, she was. His head approached the back of her head and kissed her hair softly, as tenderly as he was capable, tempting her into staying there. Her eyes closed as if instructed by his pervading, reassuring presence, enjoying the moment. Her arms felt like rags just hanging from her shoulders and they stayed like that for what seemed like an eternity.

The sensation of someone breathing on the edges of her hair and kissing the back of her head had been highly erotic for both of them. She thought she felt him shudder. She shivered all over and her skin buzzed in expectation, not knowing what followed. He definitely had grabbed all her attention. What would he do next? Would he whisper something in her ear? Would he kiss the back of her neck? Would he turn her around? Would he look into her eyes and kiss her? She’d refused to give herself the chance to feel something this intimate with a stranger in the past. Would she do it now? With a complete stranger. One whose face she hadn’t even seen yet. She was physically and mentally aroused and she couldn’t control the reactions of her body.

This was the beginning of total chaos, that type of experience that threatened to shatter everything she’d worked for. Maybe that showed how fragile a lifestyle and even a career was. How easily it could be destroyed. She didn’t even have control over her own limbs. And they weren’t even that far, they were part of her. She felt her hands heading right under her breasts, anchoring on the aventurine pendant she was wearing, resting on the place where his arms and hands were wrapped around her sweaty body.

Her hands were betraying her desire. She couldn’t let that happen. She had to get away. From him. From the place. From this newly-found personality. From this newly-found desire. From herself. Her heart, which had been racing with the clear intention of bursting out of her chest just moments earlier, was now feeling at ease, but her mind was on overdrive, screaming at her to break away from the fearless stranger who had taken her hostage. It was obvious his sole intention was to hug her while swaying to the rhythm of the music. She could break free at any moment and he would let her go. She was sure of that. How could she be a hostage when she was able to leave but was still there?

This intimate sensation went beyond the physical. It was like her soul was having a déjà-vu. It felt right. It also left her feeling naked, stripped of all her defenses, allowing this person to look at her and see her in a way she didn’t even give herself permission to feel or look. Why was she giving her power away to him? Given how much intimacy she usually allowed herself to experience, this felt like trespassing. She avoided intimacy and being touched. She didn’t feel comfortable allowing herself to be seen in this type of situation even by her best friend. She didn’t talk about her personal life with anybody. Her heart was the most precious thing she had, and she felt she had to guard it in any way possible. Even if that meant she was at times socially awkward, secretive and reclusive. If that was the cost of her heart being in one piece, it was a small price to pay.

The song was still the same, so that meant they hadn’t spent that long in their embrace. What was he doing? What was SHE doing? She couldn’t give in and turn around to face him. Maybe she would actually like the guy and that would ruin everything. She had a feeling she already liked him. This meant another period of heartache would soon follow. She knew it was coming. She could sense it. It always did. Her decision to stop dating and focus only on building her career was a good one. It was the best idea she’d ever had. She wasn’t going to let a total stranger, an ass probably – one who could totally rock her world and devour her panties, most probably- to ruin everything.

Mentally commanding her hands to move, she took hold of his hands and peeled them off her dress. He did as instructed. She shoved his hands to his sides, set her right foot ahead and stormed out of the noisy, smoke-covered room.

Don’t look back! Anna ordered her brain. Get out. Get out. Get out, she chanted.

She bumped into people on her way to the exit and some even cursed her for stepping on their toes, but she didn’t care. She brushed past people who were sweatier than her and the sensation it left on her oversensitive skin was torture. She felt cold, frozen even, when coming into contact with the overheated bodies that were still enjoying the music, wrapped around their partners’ body. She had to get out of this place. Get away from the guy. Keep her distance from the temptation.

The smell of bodies rubbing against each other reminded her of sex. They were probably going to have sex after leaving the place and she was going home to her empty bed. It was the first time she felt the need to be taken by the intrusive stranger. Her mind envisioned his calloused but soft hands sliding on her breasts, then lower to her abdomen, and cupping her pussy. That thought alone sent a lightning bolt from the back of her head to her lower female parts.

Hazy from the alcohol she’d had, her head throbbed and for a moment she forgot where she was going and why she was in such a hurry to go home. The much brighter lights in the next room blinded her and she looked around in confusion trying to locate the door. She had to go through a few more rooms. Her unfocused eyes took in the different degrees of light and tried to keep up with her pace as she’d already hit one of the tables, the edge rubbing painfully against her thigh. It would leave a bruise for sure. To the people around her, she must have been just one of the drunken girls trying to get outside before they threw up on the already scarce furniture in the club, but she wasn’t that drunk, as she’d had only two beers. Around six beers usually got her drunk. She was sober, or at least that was what she wanted to think about herself. As she went up the stairs, she still didn’t remember why she was so desperate to get outside. There was time to think about that. Now she had to focus on her steps. She didn’t want to make a fool of herself and fail in her attempt to make a gracious, Cinderella-like escape.

The stairs were finally ending. One more step and she was out the metal heavy door she had to push. She was strong enough to make it open with a single push, and she was out. Free from the stranger’s spell, out into the deliciously refreshing night air. The smell of cigarette smoke collided with her nose and she couldn’t hold back a chocking cough that threatened to leave her breathless for a few minutes.

As the smoke dissolved, it gave way to the fresh summer essence of night. She moved further from the door, crossed the tiny interior street in front of the club, and sat down on the side of the pavement. There were no people on this side, so she could use it to catch her breath a little and think what the best place to flag down a cab was.

She hugged her knees in an attempt to stop shaking. As her dramatic fight-or-flight reaction settled, she remembered the scene in the club. Feelings came flooding her head and she was their victim. She couldn’t do anything to stop them. Pleasure. Calm. Electricity. Comfort. Confusion. Fear. She’d felt all those things and many more. What a great night! Not.

As she scolded herself for allowing her body to give in to the man’s charms, tears started streaming down her cheeks. She didn’t understand why this was happening, but it felt good. It felt liberating, as if a heavy burden was lifted off her chest. She continued crying, her forehead resting on her knees until the tears became sobs. She felt the need to curl up in a corner and cry her eyes out. She felt so vulnerable out here in the open, so far from the safety of her bedroom and her fluffy cat’s protective spell.

At one point, she felt someone gazing. It couldn’t be. No
t the police. She wasn’t in the mood to answer any of their stupid questions in the state of mind she was in. Not with the way her temples throbbed.

A man, from the way he stepped and his silent shoes, was heading her way. Maybe not a police officer. Her heart skipped a beat. It couldn’t be.

She had to look up. Her body reacted without her mental command. She toughened up and lifted her head from the abyss of her trembling arms. The moment their eyes met, she knew it was him. He was godlike tall and so massive that it was impossible for her not to drool. He had quite dark long curly hair that fell in waves on his shoulders. Despite his tough appearance, she knew he wasn’t a bad person and his intentions were more than honorable. She hoped, at least. What he was wearing was the ordinary male uniform, an all black tee and jeans. Despite the simplicity of his clothes, nothing else about him was ordinary.

Muscles bulged from all places possible, threatening to tear the clothes they were confined by. He looked like he could intimidate someone only by flashing the upper part of his body at them. Anna had never seen pecs so well-defined you could see them through a tee that wasn’t even see-through. She realized he wasn’t a teenager on steroids who lived at the gym. Those muscles had been on him for a long time, strengthened by years of practice, and looked like they belonged there. He looked like a bachelor who was just hanging out with his friends rather than aiming to pick up random women in clubs.

Air was trapped in her lungs. She felt so small, which wasn’t exactly the case as she was fluffy in more than the right places. She was intimidated, but it was all in a good way. She had never been touched by such a man, even if she had sometimes dreamed about his kind. But she had to be realistic. Guys that good-looking only had eyes for models.
